Artist's Statement:
My background as an artist comes in the form of art education. I am a high school art teacher at Tatum ISD and an adjunct professor for Kilgore College and Stephen F. Austin State University. My degrees are in English/ Art (SFASU) and Masters of Art Education (Texas Tech University). And yet, with those credentials and teaching experience, I am not satisfied with who I am if I cannot proclaim first and foremost to be an artist... purely an artist. I realize that as an educator, I can only take students as far as I am artistically and therefore, I strive to constantly produce,show, and sell my artwork. After all, how can I validate to students the importance of art if I don't show them and set the example of living that importance?
